Cognos Appoints Michael A. Morrison VP and General Manager, Financial Performance Management: - Veteran software industry executive to lead Cognos

OTTAWA & BURLINGTON, Mass. (Business Wire EON) October 29, 2007 -- Mr. Morrison will report to Cognos Senior Vice-President of Products, Peter Griffiths. He joins Cognos from Applix, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and held responsibility for all sales, marketing and services operations.

At Cognos, Mr. Morrison will have primary responsibility for driving sustainable growth in financial performance management through the delivery of market-leading product; investment planning and market requirements; and engagement and support of sales teams to help facilitate growth and solution success on a global scale.

During his 11-year tenure with Cognos, he also led the Cognos financial applications business unit, helping pioneer the business and increase sales. Prior to joining Cognos in 1993, Mr. Morrison worked for NYNEX (now Verizon) as a senior attorney.
